According to a recently published report, the report states A South Carolina sheriff’s deputy broke down in tears when he realized the man he shot during a traffic stop last month had grabbed a cane and not a shotgun.
York County, S.C. Sheriff's Deputy Terrance Knox wept and begged to God to forgive him for shooting 70-year-old Bobby Dean Canipe when he realized the man had gotten out of his truck to retrieve his cane following a traffic stop, according to The State newspaper and the York County Sheriff’s Office.
Knox had pulled over the pickup truck for expired tags at around 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 25.
