ESPN FC’s Steve Nicol and Tommy Smyth discussed the status of Manchester United and David Moyes today following the disaster that was the Manchester Derby. United lost at their home of Old Trafford 3-0, sadly complementing the 3-nil showings versus Chelsea and Liverpool earlier this season.
This led to a lot of colorful prose on the job security of David Moyes and the mess that is Man United.
Watch this video, in which the ESPN FC talking heads talk about the idea of Moyes being gone by the summer.
During the episode one panelist said United “should have sacked David Moyes a long time ago,” and another referred to those believing the Red Devils could come back as living in “Cloud Kuckoo land”
Cloud Cuckoo Land refers to an unrealistically idealistic state where everything is perfect. (“You’re living in cloud cuckoo land, mate.” ) The phrase was made popular again by the recently released Lego movie.
Yes, that’s how bad things have gotten at United this season. After the match, angry Reds yelled expletives at the former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson as well as David Moyes, his handpicked successor, according to multiple reports. Stadium stewards also had to be deployed to prevent United supporters from tearing down a banner honouring Moyes as “The Chosen One.”
Here’s a photo of one of David Moyes’ very passionate hecklers.
