YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!

I'm a child of the 70's.  I remember some pretty incredible sports moments growing up in the 70's and 80's.  The Big Red Machine. Ron Guidry striking out 18.

Muhammad Ali. The Bears and the Superbowl Shuffle... and John McEnroe screaming at the linesman telling him, "YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!"  Great memories... and that line has been stuck in my head forever. It also signifies what the Yankees have been as of late... and especially today.  1 run against the Kansas City Royals. I mean, you know the lineup we have, right? I mean, you know they are capable of a helluva lot, right? So? Why are they losing 2-1 today? WHY? YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!


I expected more, I'm not gonna lie.WE expected more, as fans.  But you know what? Maybe this is what this team is.  Maybe we're not good. Maybe, just maybe we are mediocre and we should root for them that way.  Because there is something very telling about a team this good on paper that just can't score runs.  They don't work together and they sure as hell aren't gelling. I mean, it IS June 8th, you know?  Something needs to be done.  What however, I just don't know.

5 hits today against James "Cy Young" Shields and company.  Ichiro grounded out and in the process, knocked in Yangervis Solarte. 

I mean, how long has it been since we saw a big home run... 2 run homer, 3 run homer, you know? How long has it been since we've seen a legit walk-off, or a clutch 3 run double.  It's been a while, and you know it?  What has happened? We left 9 runners on base today. With runners in scoring position, we were 1-17.  Are we gonna have a team meeting or are we gonna just keep doing more of the same... nothing. I want answers!
 

The only positive. Hiroki Kuroda looked good today! He did his job. He went 7, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs.  We need hitting to help him. Of course, that didn't happen.

I'm not happy ladies and gentlemen and you shouldn't be either.  We need this team gelling, we need our Yankees to have that "want" and "need" to get those runs home!  Bottom line, WE NEED TO START WINNING. I watched today's game and I stood up and said, "You cannot be serious!" 

I'm serious... this is pathetic.
