China Made Jerky Treats Kills 600 And Sickens 3,600 Pets (Video)

By Susan Duclos
Treats imported from China have been killing and sickening pets across America in what in a mysterious outbreak of illness caused by Jerky treats made in China.
Most have been dogs but some cats have suffered from eating eating chicken, duck and sweet potato jerky treats from Nestle Purina PetCare Co.’s Waggin Train and Canyon Creek Ranch treats, plus Del Monte Corp.’s Milo’s Kitchen Chicken Jerky and Chicken Grillers home-style dog treats.
The sicknesses have slowed but that is being credited to recalls of the product.
According to the deputy director for the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine, Martine Hartogensis, "To date, testing for contaminants in jerky treats has not revealed a cause for the illnesses."
"We still are extensively testing treats for a number of things,” Hartogensis told NBC News. “We do seem to be getting some leads, but we still have a little bit of a ways to go.”
The video report below is from a week ago, when the death toll was at 500.
