(PCM) It is with great sadness that we report the death of actor Paul Walker at the age of 40. Walker and another passenger were killed in a horrific car accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon in Valencia, CA.
Walker’s rep has confirmed the news of his passing and details about the crash continue to emerge. The following statement was posted on Walker’s Twitter account:
“It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news.”
Walker was riding in a red Porsche GT about 3:30 p.m. when the sports car flew off the road and slammed into a tree. When police and the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived on the scene the car was engulfed in flames and both individuals who were inside the car were pronounced dead at the scene. Walker and the other victim, who is known at this time as Roger, both experienced drivers, are rumored to have been taking the car on a joyride and the charity event which Walker was attending was at Always Evolving Performance Motors, located just down the street from where Walker was killed.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated and according to the coroner both bodies were so incredibly burned that it could take days for a positive identification. Walker was recently the victim of an internet hoax about his death, so many journalists and celebrities were still thinking that this tragic twist of fate was just part of another sick internet prank. Sadly, this time it turned out to be true.
Walker is best known for his role as Brian O’Conner in the “Fast and Furious” film franchise and was currently working on the seventh “Fast and Furious” film. Walker has also starred in such films as “Pleasantville”, “Varsity Blues”, and “The Skulls”. Walker is survived by his 15 year old daughter Meadow. Our thoughts, prayers, and sincere condolences are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
